Engadget claims to have details about the next generation iPad (iPad 2), iPhone 5, and the next generation AppleTV,
Lets start out with the iPad 2: Nothing that hasn’t been previously reported… This includes a “super high resolution” screen, much like iPhone 4′s Retina Display. It’s said the screen size is to remain the same, but will include both front and rear-facing cameras. The extra port some leaked images highlighted, was speculated to be either a full sized USB port or an SD card slot; turns out, it’s an SD Card slot. However, it’s still not completely definitive.
Engadget notes that that Apple will start transitioning their communication chipsets to those produced by Qualcomm. This will allow Apple to support dual-modes allowing for both Verizon (CDMA) and AT&T (GSM) compatibility in the same hardware model. The chipset change will make it’s way to the iPhone 5, again, allowing CDMA and GSM networks on the same model. Currently, the iPhone 4 is two separate models, one for Verizon and the other for AT&T.
In addtion, it’s believe that the iPhone 5 will be completely redesigned, one major upgrade will be a Cortex A9-based multi-core processor, to be dubbed the Apple A5. The current Apple A4 processor is a single-core Cortex A8 processor. The Apple A5 processor is believed to also make its way into the next generation AppleTV. The iPhone 5 is expected to launch this summer.
