PSP 6.35 Coming Soon followed by 6.20TN-A
Two big things coming up… 1) Total_Noob’s 6.20 Homebrew Enabler, it’s nearly completed, that’s according to a post at Wololo’s site; and 2) Sony is setting to release PSP Firmware 6.35, that’s neigh say straight from Sony’s PlayStation Blog. Of course you should NOT update when 6.35 is released as it likely patches HBL and/or TN’s kernel exploit. I mean why else would 6.35 be nearing? Wait… Sony answers that:
Hi everyone, the next PSP (PlayStation Portable) system software update (v6.35) is coming soon. This is a minor update that prepares your PSP system for the upcoming launch of “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity” – a new, cloud-based, digital music service from Sony that will give music lovers access to millions of songs stored and synchronized through the cloud. A new icon for the service will be added to PSP’s XMB (XrossMediaBar) under the “Music” category. You can read more about Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity here, and we’ll report back when a launch date is announced.
Ah, ha… yeah… I bet that’s all. Although the music service does sound kind of cool, but not cool enough to sacrifice my homebrew and hacks, I’ll tell ya that. Total_Noob’s HEN is said to run 98% of current homebrew (that includes plugins/prx’s too I think); it features a VSH menu and a new “NanGuard” mechanism to prevent users from blindly writing/deleting stuff in flash memory. Remember: there is no Pandora (read: battery hack) to fix a bricked PSP-3000 or PSPgo.
So what do you do when Sony releases PSP Firmware 6.35? You don’t update! What do you do when Total_Noob releases his 6.20 HEN? You hack your PSP! Hey Total_Noob, are you going to port the kernel exploit to 6.30/6.31 now? If it’s patched I mean.
Anyway… Nice work, TN. Nice try, Sony.
Update: PSP Firmware 6.35 is out and it has been confirmed — the Hot Shots Golf exploit is patched. Stay tuned we’ll keep you posted as things develop.
